An accounting professional since 1977, Katie joined the HRC team in 2000. She currently serves as an attest partner, working primarily with non-profit clients. She offers many services, including tax compliance, accounting, auditing, and tax return completion. Prior to joining HRC, Katie worked in a variety of accounting roles, including bookkeeping and office management, and spent 10 years as a stay-at-home mom.

Katie understands when to be serious and when to have fun, which is an important balance in the accounting field. She is determined and dedicated in her work—characteristics to which she credits her career success. Katie’s goal is to communicate effectively with clients by “speaking their language”—putting complex concepts into terms that non-accountants can easily grasp. When she returned to her accounting career after spending a decade raising her children, Katie never intended to rise as high as a partner in an accounting firm. However, working with her teammates and clients motivated her to develop her skills and gave her the desire to make a difference.

Raised in Las Vegas, Katie and her husband, Steve, spent 22 years living in many different places due to his career in the Air Force. They spent time in California, Germany, Virginia, and Kansas before returning to Katie’s hometown. They now have homes in both Las Vegas and Estes Park, Colorado. Katie and Steve have two adult children, Kelsey and Kyle. In her free time, Katie enjoys quilting, doing yoga, and reading—she doesn’t have a favorite book because there are too many good options from which to choose!
