Kara Shriver joined HRC as an Intern in the Assurance Department in 2024. With a diverse background and extensive experience, Kara brings a wealth of skills and a unique perspective to the team. Kara will be graduating from UNLV in May 2026 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Accounting.
Since 2015, Kara has worked at Wynn Las Vegas, demonstrating excellent customer service skills and the ability to excel under strict timelines in accordance with Forbes 5 Star Standards. With over 12 years of experience as a professional acrobat and aerialist, including performances with Cirque du Soleil and major shows on the Strip, Kara has also lived and worked as an artist in Argentina and Montreal.
Highly motivated and hardworking, Kara believes that “if you are too big to do the small things, you’re too little to do the big things.” With a strong work ethic and a commitment to continuous learning, she strives to help others as much as possible along the way. A natural talent for numbers and math led Kara to a passion for accounting, which was discovered after taking a tax class at 18 and she has earned her Enrolled Agent certification. After exploring different majors, she returned to accounting and realized a deep passion for the field, eager to use this knowledge to help others.
A significant life experience that shaped Kara’s outlook occurred on June 19, 2022, when a house fire destroyed over a third of her neighborhood, including her own home. It was the largest fire in Las Vegas in over 25 years. In the following months, Kara endured further challenges, including a flood, smaller fires, and numerous robberies. This experience taught Kara the importance of community and the resilience needed to rebuild and start over. She has not had a bad day since, maintaining positivity and a strong sense of connection in all aspects of work and life.
An avid poetry fan, Kara’s favorite book is “Helium” by Rudy Francisco. She strongly believes that “everything happens in its perfect timing,” trusting that even negative events have a bigger purpose or reason.
Kara appreciates the endless activities Las Vegas has to offer, from sporting events and shows to outdoor activities like hiking, snowboarding, rock climbing, and camping. Originally from Fort Lauderdale, FL, her parents still reside there. Kara hopes to get a dog someday soon.
